Melissa Hudson knows Mozart, Rutter... and the Rolling Stones. Northminster’s music director loves music, and it doesn’t just stop with directing the choir and playing the organ. A native of Roanoke and a graduate of Cave Spring High School, Melissa received her Bachelor of Music from Appalachian State University and her Master of Music from Western Michigan University. She lived in Baltimore and Chicago before moving back to Roanoke in 2007 to be with her family, and ultimately to lead the music program at Northminster. Melissa has worked as a music director, choral accompanist, and piano instructor for the last twenty years and now teaches classes in music appreciation, music history, and, yes, the history of rock and roll. And now, the children’s choirs, adult choir, and handbell choirs are thriving under her guidance. Outside of music, Melissa enjoys traveling, hiking, and cooking.
Melissa's leadership combines musical excellence and diversity, with a dose of fun fellowship.
